The Fall of Icarus
The Fall of Icarus is a triptych inspired by The Lament for Icarus by Herbert Draper, itself based on the Greek myth of Icarus and his tragic fall.
The central screen depicts the nymphs surrounding Icarus during his descent, emphasizing the dramatic and mythological atmosphere of the scene. On the left screen, a wax-covered feather symbolizes the fragility of his wings and the failure of human ambition. The right screen focuses on the hand of Icarus falling toward the sun, capturing the final moment between ascension and collapse.
Through fragmented imagery and cinematic composition, the project reinterprets the myth by exploring themes of ambition, vulnerability, and inevitable downfall.
